Cinderella Stocks from the Gurus

Unheralded programs like Ohio University and Lehigh have played Cinderella in this year’s NCAA basketball tournament, knocking out highly seeded schools with long histories of basketball prominence. And in his latest column for Nasdaq.com, Validea CEO John Reese says investors can similarly find Cinderellas hiding in the stock market, ready to post gains that would rival their bigger, flashier peers.

“While giant blue chips and popular, flashy tech stocks usually get all the attention, plenty of smaller, lesser-known companies lie hidden in the market,” Reese says. “And, just as with March Madness’ Cinderellas, some of these stocks will end up fitting into that glass slipper.”

Reese uses his Guru Strategies, each of which is based on the approach of a different investing great, to target lesser-known smaller companies whose strong fundamentals indicate they are packed with potential.
