Bitcoin, tech stocks and China’s leadership were among the most popular finance-related search topics on Google in 2017, according to data compiled by the Alphabet-owned company and listed in a recent Bloomberg article:

One of the “hottest” topics, the article reports, has been bitcoin’s surge. “Many people used Google to try to figure out when would be a good time to buy.”

Other areas of interest included:

• Real estate in major cities;
• Leadership changes in China;
• Catalonia;
• “FAANG” and “tech stocks”;
• “Passive investing” which, the article says, “exceeded the number searching for “active investment” by the biggest margin ever this year.”
• India’s economy.
