Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of the Economic Cycle Research Institute, says last week’s May jobs report was a disappointment, but isn’t a “game-changer” for the economic recovery. Achuthan, whose group has an excellent track record of forecasting economic trends, tells Bloomberg that jobs are a coincident indicator of economic activity — not a leading indicator that signals where we’re headed.
